These sun catchers are fun to make and look great hanging in the window!
Got broken crayons? This is a fun and easy craft for kids. Make the crayon hearts and then color with them!
Have your kids gather up all the crayons and crayon parts that every family has hanging around the house. Peel the paper off and break into small pieces. Sort the crayons into groups by color.
Use a silicone mold to make the hearts. You can find them at craft or kitchen shops and they come in loads of different sizes and shapes. We used a heart-shaped mold for Valentine’s Day.
Add the pieces of crayon to the molds – multiple colors turn out really pretty. You can also do 2 or 3 colors. White/red/pink looks good together. Or black/orange for Giants colors. Let your kids decide. You can fill them up to the top because they will melt down.
Put on a baking sheet and melt in the oven at 250 degrees for 10-15 mins depending on the size of the molds. You just want to make sure they are melted, but you don’t want to cook the crayons. Remove as soon as melted and let stand until completely cool.
Once they are cool, pop out of the mold and voila – a set of new homeade crayons! You can also use them for the kids Valentine’s cards instead of candy. Enjoy!
