“The Sweetest Little Fair in Sonoma County” is back in its 42nd year, bringing fun for the whole family! The Gravenstein Apple Fair continues the tradition of celebrating Sonoma County’s treasured Gravenstein apple, combined with loads of activities for the kids, fantastic live music on two stages, and great food.
The best part? All entertainment and most activities are free with admission!
Visitors will experience the feeling of an old time country get-together. They can throw darts at apples, ride in a wagon pulled by plow horses, and shop the local artisan booths for handmade jewelry, clothing, pottery and gourmet goodies. Fun activities for the kids include the Hay Maze, arts and crafts booths, a petting zoo, pony rides, kid-focused performances, beekeeper displays, and much more.
The Children’s Corner is an integral part of the fair that children look forward to year after year. There are live music sing-alongs, puppet shows and ongoing arts & crafts activities for kids in a shady, nurturing environment. Schulz Museum will also be on site both days, offering Peanuts Naturally, an interactive exhibit with hands-on art and science activity stations. This year the Aquarium of the Bay will be there on Sunday with a mobile touch tank.
Kids love playing in the hay maze, visiting animals at the “Life on the Farm” arena, chasing giant bubbles, hula hooping, and being awed by the stilt walkers. They’ll also enjoy performances each afternoon by Summerfield School and Farm’s “Circus Waldissima” (the locally acclaimed youth circus inspired by Waldorf Education).
And then there are the old-timey apple-themed contests (apple pie eating, apple juggling, caramel apple eating). Sign-ups are on a first come, first serve basis at the Information Booth. Budding junior chefs can enter the Pie Baking contest sponsored by the Sebastopol Chamber of Commerce. Entry forms are available on the Gravenstein Apple Fair website and at the Chamber of Commerce in downtown Sebastopol.
There’s something for the whole family at the Gravenstein Apple Fair. Adults will enjoy the live music on 2 stages, arts & crafts vendors, excellent local food, wine, cider & beer, chef’s tent, artisan cheese tent, do-it-yourself tent, life on the farm arena, and of course our famous heirloom Gravenstein apples!
See you there!
