On Saturday, June 20, the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County (CMOSC) will open the doors to Ernest L. and Ruth W. Finley Foundation Science & Imagination Gallery. Guests will be able to explore the brand new gallery featuring over 15 new interior exhibits. Each area is filled with exhibits designed for children ages ten and younger. TOTopia, the adjacent toddler-only play space, will open within the next few weeks.

The Ernest L. and Ruth W. Finley Science & Imagination Gallery houses a combination of imaginative play spaces and interactive exhibits based on scientific principles. Children can entertain their parents with a live show in the puppet theater, or cook up a healthy “pretend” meal in the café. Everyone will enjoy building various structures in the hardware store or watching busy honeybees work in the live beehive. Shoot large pollen balls across the gallery with wind cannons or brush a crocodile’s teeth in the dental lab. Other exhibits include a train car, light peg wall, tree house, health lab, magnet table and much more!

In TOTopia, families will experience a custom space designed specifically for the developmental needs of children ages 30 months or younger. Crawlers and toddlers can explore a tide pool water discovery area, a sensory table, a ball wall, a storybook cottage and more.

Phase I of the $8.3M capital campaign opened in June 2014 which included a 36,000sf2 outdoor nature education garden called Mary’s Garden, a creative workshop called Ella’s Art Studio and a private birthday room in the Dow Event Center.

More exhibits and areas will open throughout 2015 including a dragonfly helicopter, Bubblemania and the Founding Families Plaza.

The Children’s Museum of Sonoma County inspires children’s creativity and stimulates their curiosity to discover the world through the playful exploration of the arts and sciences. CMOSC provides hands-on, interactive exhibits and activities in a safe environment that are custom designed for families with children ages ten years old and younger.

CMOSC will be open from 9am to 4pm on June 20, and from 11am to 4pm on June 21. Guest admissions are $10 per person, and members always visit for free. Summer camps are open for registration and birthday parties are available year-round.
