Time seems to just fly by these days. At the end of a year it's tough to remember all the things that happened that year. As a family, it's important to reflect on how much everyone has grown, learned, and accomplished each year.
This is a great way to remember and reflect your family's events. It's called the New Year Memory Jar. And here's how it works.
At the beginning of the year grab a jar (preferably glass or at least transparent so the kids can see inside) and label it with the current year. Throughout the year, family members should write down things that happen and place them in the jar. Things to write down can be major events (both happy and sad), achievements, improvements, funny things the kids say and do, or special family moments. At the end of the year, sit down with your family and let everyone share the contents of the jar.
Keep small pieces of paper and a pen next to the jar for convenience. Store the jar in a place where family members will remember to write things down as they happen.
We also put our family goals in the jar. Some examples of family goals can be: cook meals together more often, go on family hikes, go see more live theater, drink more water, floss regularly, give more compliments, and support each other as much as we can. At the end of this year you can review those goals and see how you did!
Happy New Year and have fun!!
